We provide independent financial advice to help you build wealth, to spend on the people and things that are important to you.
Here’s what to expect when you contact Smythe Financial Management for your financial advice:
Step 1: Let’s meet
First, we’ll get together for a face-to-face chat or Skype call to get to know each other better. Whatever you want to achieve when it comes to your personal and financial outcomes, we want to hear about it. And it won’t cost a cent as the first meeting is free of charge.
Be sure to watch the video below:
Step 2: Information Exchange
Following our initial consultation and agreed engagement, we’ll work with you to gather all the information we need to understand how close you are to meeting your personal and financial outcomes, and how we can help you achieve them.
Step 3: Initial Advice Piece
Next, we will tailor a Personal Financial “Advice Map” for you, which will outline our initial advice (ie not product) recommendations. At this stage of the process, we are essentially considering the following key question – “If I am in your shoes, and these are the outcomes that are important to you, and this is the way you currently doing things, what changes would I recommend to maximise the probability of you achieving your outcomes?”
Step 4: Implementation
Once your initial Advice Map is agreed, we then help you implement it. At this stage, we will provide you with further advice as to which financial products are the most appropriate for you given your personal circumstances.
Step 5: Review and Update
Things change. That’s why we will proactively review and, if necessary, update your Personal Financial Advice Map as required, to ensure it remains in line with your ongoing personal and financial goals.
How much will it cost?
The initial meeting is free.
We charge a fixed fee based on an agreed scope of service, and engage with clients on an annual basis. You’ll always know, before the work starts, what that fee will be as outlined in the scope of service document provided to you at the start of every year.
We’ll never demand a percentage of your assets. We will never charge commissions. We won’t earn rebates and we won’t receive kickbacks.

Q – You say you are independent. What does that mean?
A – As an independent financial adviser we’ll never receive commissions, bonuses, gifts or remuneration from the issuer of a financial product. Nor will we be employed by the issuer of financial products. As one of only a few truly independent financial advisers in Australia, our independence means we remain objective when managing your money. Refer to www.ifaaa.com.au for further information.
Q – How do I get a copy of your Financial Services Guide?
A – Click here to obtain a copy of our Financial Services Guide.
Q – What should I bring to the first meeting?
A – The first meeting is all about understanding what is important to you and discussing your personal and financial outcomes. There is no need to bring any specific documentation unless there is something particular you want to discuss.
Q – Where are meetings held?
A – Clients can meet at either our Brookvale or Sydney CBD offices. We recommend not meeting at your home as, in our experience, a home environment can be distracting and not conducive to discussing personal and financial matters. We can also meet via Skype, if preferred or required.
